Verena Trenkel is a researcher at IFREMER in the field of the ecosystem approach to fisheries and the assessment of the impact of multiple pressures (fishing, environment, other human activities) on exploited marine communities.

 

To this end, she analyses empirical data (time series, one-off sea campaigns) and model outputs using statistical and mechanistic models and carries out simulation studies. The aim is to provide the scientific knowledge needed to detect changes in communities and populations and to enable sustainable management of maritime activities, including fishing.

 

Verena Trenkel is also responsible for the Ecology and Models for Fisheries unit.
